Squillify development is paused indefinitely. Read why, and discover what this experiment achieved. Read the story

Getting Started

Let’s get your account set up and your first MicroSkill invocation running — it takes under 5 minutes, start to finish.

Before you begin

All you need is a Squillify account. Sign up at squillify.com/sign-up — it takes less than a minute, and then you’re ready to roll.

Step 1 — Create an API key

Head to the API Keys section of your dashboard and click Create API Key. Give it a name you’ll recognize later (something like "Development" works great).

Warning
Heads up: the full key (starting with sq_live_) is shown only once, right when you create it. Copy it somewhere safe — you won’t be able to see it again.

Step 2 — Assign MicroSkills

Each API key decides which MicroSkills your agents can invoke. In the key detail panel, pick the access mode that fits:

  1. All enabled MicroSkills — the key can invoke any MicroSkill your tenant has enabled. This is the easiest way to get going.
  2. Specific MicroSkills — hand-pick exactly which MicroSkills this key can reach. Great for production keys where you want tight, least-privilege control.

For your very first test, go with All enabled MicroSkills — you can always tighten it up later.

Step 3 — Make your first invocation

Time for the fun part. Call the text.slugify MicroSkill with cURL, swapping sq_live_your_key for the key you just created:

cURLbash
curl -X POST https://api.squillify.com/v1/execute \
  -H "X-API-Key: sq_live_your_key" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "skillKey": "text.slugify",
    "input": { "text": "Hello World — Welcome to Squillify!" }
  }'

Step 4 — Check the response

You should get back a tidy, structured JSON response:

Responsejson
{
  "output": {
    "slug": "hello-world-welcome-to-squillify"
  },
  "metadata": {
    "skill_key": "text.slugify",
    "latency_ms": 3,
    "request_id": "a1b2c3d4-e5f6-7890-abcd-ef1234567890",
    "executed_at": "2026-06-03T07:21:00Z",
    "version_pinned": false
  }
}

And there’s your slug. Run the same input again and you’ll get the exact same output every time — that’s the STRICT behavior guarantee at work.

Step 5 — View your usage

Pop over to the Usagesection of your dashboard and you’ll see the invocation you just made — MicroSkill name, latency, status, and request ID, all there.

Everything is tracked automatically, with nothing extra to set up. You can slice it by time window, API key, and MicroSkill whenever you want a closer look.

What's next?

Nice work — you’ve made your first invocation. Here’s where to head from here:

  1. Authentication— get to know API key scopes, access modes, and the security habits that’ll keep you safe.
  2. MCP Connection — plug Squillify into Claude Desktop, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible agent so MicroSkills show up as native tools.
  3. REST API — the full API reference, with every endpoint, schema, and error code.
