Replay Generated Palette
palette.replay
Overview
Send the recovery seed palette.generate handed you and we return exactly the same colours: the same hexes, the same stops, the same paletteDigest. The seed carries the request it was issued for, so it is the only field there is — nothing to re-state, nothing that can drift out of step with it. Use palette.generate to create a palette, palette.get for a reviewed library palette. Max input 4096 bytes.
A stored chart should come back the same colour next month, and a seed is the smallest thing you can store to guarantee that.
Reliability
STRICT and deterministic — the same seed always returns the same colours and the same paletteDigest. Domain errors (not retryable — fix the input; unchanged input will fail again): PALETTE_SEED_INVALID (the seed is damaged or not one we issued — paste the sqg. token we returned, unedited); PALETTE_GENERATION_EXHAUSTED (the seed is well formed but asks for something we no longer build — the palette rules changed under it, so generate a fresh palette and keep the new seed); PALETTE_VALUE_INVALID (generation fields sent alongside the seed — send the seed alone, or call palette.generate with those fields).
Context footprint
Returns one palette object plus the replay envelope. No chart image is rendered. A successful call costs 1 execution credit.
When to use it
You have a recovery seed and want its palette back, exactly.
You do not have a seed — use palette.generate to create a palette, or palette.recommend to choose a reviewed one.
Scope
Non-goals
- Does not create a new palette — that is palette.generate
- Does not accept preferences alongside the seed, or change what the seed says
- Does not look up reviewed library palettes — that is palette.get
- Does not mark the result as a reviewed Squillify library palette

Input schema
| Field | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| seed | string | Yes | Recovery seed from palette.generate or a palette.recommend fallback; it already carries kind, count, surface and every preference. |
Output schema
| Field | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| replay | object | Yes | Closed recovery envelope with the seed to keep, how it was issued, the canonical request baked into it and that request's digest. |
| palette | object | Yes | Closed ready-to-apply palette with provenance, kind, model, surface, colours, optional gradient stops, application tokens, evidence and warnings. |

}Recommended use cases
- Re-render a chart with the colours it used last time, from a stored seed
- Keep one short seed instead of a whole palette payload
- Recover the palette behind a palette.recommend answer that generated one
Avoid for
- Creating colours you do not have a seed for — use palette.generate
- Adjusting a generated palette — generate a new one and keep its seed
